A walk on the stairs
Unaware my cares
So Dark!
Balance in my prayers
My life in the glares
Remark!
Toes now need repairs
The back took its shares
Benchmark!
This poem is an example of poetic form lai. A lai is a 9-line rhyming scheme poem that follows an “aabaabaab” format. The “a” lines are 5 syllables and rhyme, while the “b” lines are only 2 syllables and rhyme. Writing in this form was harder than I thought it would be, and I would love to see what other writers come up with using this form.
