She Was You

Living in the present moment

Healthy for the soul

Until the present kills purpose

The future takes its toll.

Lost in the silence

Then crippled by the noise

Blinded from possibilities

And where there was choice.

Changes happening rapidly

Even while standing still

Legs are locked place

Hope losing its will.

The ghost of me is haunting

And has no right to live

My heart still beats inside

More is lost to give.

Losing her was crippling

Especially in mirror view

Chances buried by years

Now understanding she was you.
